- The Borden system is an alphanumeric coding system for archaeological sites designed by Charles E. Borden in 1952, used to indicate small sections of territory in Canada. The uppercase letters represent intervals of two degrees of latitude and four degrees of longitude, which are placed in the form of a dual-entry table to produce a grid (e.g. the grid CF). The lowercase letters represent smaller grid squares, obtained by subdividing the large grids into intervals of 10 minutes (e.g. subdivision CdFm). These letters are followed by a sequence number assigned to each site.

- The Quebec Department of culture and communications (MCCQ) assigns a Borden number to each archaeological site under its jurisdiction.
